Death toll in the NHS Highland area rises by 16 to 88 in the last week

A total of 88 people have now died in the NHS Highland area from either confirmed or suspected Covid-19 – up from 72 a week ago.
In total, 24 of those deaths occurred in care homes, 13 were at home and 51 were in hospital.
The National Records of Scotland records when Covid-19 has been mentioned on a death certificate as a cause.
It also breaks down the numbers to local authority level.
For the Highland Council area, which is much smaller than the NHS Highland area, the death toll now stand at 33 – up three on last week.
Of those, three deaths occurred in care homes, five were at home and 25 were in hospital.
It is not yet clear if those numbers include any of those who have died at the Home Farm Care Home on Skye.
As of this morning there had been four confirmed deaths there.
Nationally Scotland saw a rise in Covid-19 deaths, up to 2795 from 2272 registered seven days ago.
In a more detailed breakdown of the national numbers, the majority of deaths were in hospitals (1383) while 1195 people died in care homes and 217 people died at home or in another setting.
