HIGHLAND Council’s HERO employability scheme is helping to support an Inverness young worker as she undertakes a modern apprenticeship in business and administration.

Codie Cargill, of Inverness-based Pure Lubrication, who took up her new role in May, said: “The HERO scheme has helped me with funding support which has enabled me to start my apprenticeship.

“As Pure Lubrication is a small company, without the HERO scheme I may not be where I am today. It allows me to continue to learn and develop, and gain a qualification, and it also helps Pure Lubrication with their own business development.

“In my role, I am gaining a lot of useful knowledge and skills that I will be able to transfer into other areas of business and I really appreciate the support of the team along the way.”

Simon Campbell, managing director of Pure Lubrication, said: “The Highland Employment Recruitment Offer (HERO) is a fantastic initiative that has given Pure Lubrication the opportunity to create a new role to support the growth and development of our business.

“It has also given us the chance to recruit, train and develop a new team member and give them a chance of a career with a young and exciting business, training and developing them to become a valuable member of the team with a secure job and a bright future.

“The funding we received through HERO enabled us to bring Codie on board which from day one has been a great experience for both Codie and the Pure team.”

He added: “Growing a business doesn’t come without challenges and for a young business like ours, HERO really has been our hero in supporting our strategy of investing in people. We are absolutely delighted with the support HERO has given us and would highly recommend the scheme to any eligible businesses out there.”

HERO is funded by Highland Council and the Scottish Government under the No One Left Behind and Young Person’s Guarantee funding streams. It helps people of all work ages and with the greatest barriers to employment, secure and stay in jobs.
