Accident involving visually impaired person prompts Inverness councillor's call for action on pothole-peppered road by Caledonian Canal
A concerned Highland councillor is demanding action on a pothole-ridden Inverness road after an accident involving a visually impaired person.
Duncan Macpherson, the independent member for Inverness South, was horrified by the sorry state of the road surface just off Telford Street near Muirtown Swing Bridge.
The short road parallel to the Caledonian Canal serves Crown Vets and the Jammy Piece café, and is also often used as a car park for walkers using the canal paths.
After visiting the site and photographing the broken road surface, Cllr Macpherson tweeted: “Who’s responsible for this road surface beside Telford Street at the Caledonian Canal crossing & the Muirtown Locks in Inverness?
“Is it Scottish Canals or the Highland Council?
“Either way, it needs to be sorted and potholes filled, preferably resurfaced!
“I was later told that an ambulance had to attend to a visually impaired person who had tripped on one of the potholes and fell badly, injuring themselves, and had to be taken to hospital.”
Tagging Scottish Canals and Highland Council, the councillor added: “Health and Safety. Duty of Care.”
