Council house tenants in the Highlands invited to have their say on rent levels for 2024/25
Council house tenants in the Highlands are being invited to have their say on the rent levels for the year ahead.
A formal decision on the rent levels for 2024-25 will be made at the council's housing and property committee on January 31.
The council is encouraging everyone who lives in a council house to take part in the survey as the results will have a direct impact on the services it is able to deliver next year and in the future.

- Council urges people owing rent arrears to seek early intervention
- Highland Council criticised for failing to check homes for risky concrete
Tenants' rent money pays for repairs, maintenance and improvements making it vital that the council has enough funds to carry out these essential tasks.
Housing and property committee chairperson, Councillor Glynis Campbell Sinclair said the council reached out to all its tenants each year to offer a variety of ways to participate in the rent consultation.
"This will assist our decision making when setting rent levels for the coming year," she said.
"The Highland Council rents are below the national average and the consultation assists with prioritising what services are most important to tenants while keeping rents as affordable as possible.
"With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, it’s never been more important to receive feedback from tenants on rent levels and we encourage all tenants to participate over the coming weeks."
The survey is open now and closes on December 11.
Tenants have been sent an email, text message or letter detailing the options for the rent increase.
Tenants can follow links to the online survey and for those that don’t have access to complete the survey online there is a dedicated phone number at 07387 234107 so they can speak to a member of the tenant participation team between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
