A group of brightly decorated Highland coos have gone under the hammer, raising more than £100,000 for Highland Hospice.

The model coos were created by local artists and formed part of a Highland art trail throughout the summer.

Hospice fundraiser Jenna Hayden said: “The Great Heilan’ Coo Trail has been a huge success from beginning to end and our auction really couldn’t have gone any better.”

She said they were delighted that so much was raised on the night at Eden Court’s Under Canvas – so far the total stands at more than £120,000 before costs – and the highest bid was an incredible £5000 for Juniper Moon, which had stood near to Inverness Cathedral and was bought by Tomatin Distillery.

She said: “This really is a fantastic result, and it’s wonderful to see all our hard work over the trail having paid off.

“Huge thank you to Caley Timber who were the main sponsor of the trail, as well as all the companies who sponsored a coo, all the fantastic, talented artists and everyone who purchased a sculpture.”

She said that they were sad to see the trail come to an end but were delighted with its success.
