A live cookery demonstration hosted by an Inverness stove supplier has raised £800 to support children and their families with healthcare and bereavement.

Bonk & Co staged the event for the Archie Foundation which has supported NHS Highland paediatric services since 2012.

Last year, the foundation extended its support in the region by introducing Archie’s child bereavement service which provides tailored support for children who have lost a loved one.

It was the first charity to benefit from a new corporate social responsibility venture launched by Bonk & Co to help staff and customers give back to the local community.

The company held an AGA cookery demonstration at its showroom in Harbour Road where guests were treated to a range of tempting dishes cooked up by AGA economist Naomi Hansell.

Alex Dolby, Bonk & Co’s managing director, said it had been a brilliant start to its ongoing commitment to the Archie Foundation and its work within the community.

“We really wanted to give something back to the local community that has served us so well over Bonk & Co’s history and we couldn’t think of a better cause than the Archie Foundation,” he said.

“We have so many ideas for different opportunities our staff and customers can get involved in over the coming months and we’re really excited to be getting this initiative off the ground.”

The next event in support of the Archie Foundation is the Big Bonk Summer Raffle.

Just £30 will fund carefully-tailored support for a bereaved child, including an initial telephone consultation with the parent or responsible adult making the referral and provision of specialist bereavement books to help the child understand and process the death of their loved one.

Archie Foundation chief executive Paula Cormack was delighted the foundation has been chosen as the first charity partner of Bonk & Co.

“The Archie Foundation makes an enormous difference to local children and families, but none of it would be possible without the support of local businesses like Bonk & Co and their staff and customers,” she said.
