Confirmed coronavirus cases in Highlands approach 200

SIX more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the Highlands, taking the region's total number of known cases to 193, new figures have shown.

Some 411 people have tested positive across the whole of Scotland since yesterday, taking the national total to 7820.

And 893 people have died across the country since the outbreak began, a rise of 56 on the same point yesterday.

In the Highlands, the number of people being treated in hospital with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 decreased from 62 to 59. And the number of people in intensive care remained at six at midnight last night.

Elsewhere in the north, NHS Grampian recorded another 38 positive tests, for an overall tally of 432. Its hospitals were also treating 84 people in hospital for the disease, with 15 receiving treatment in intensive care.
