Repair work on an Inverness building hit by a car is set to be complete in just over two weeks.

The works at the property in Pumpgate Street/Grant Street were originally expected to last until mid-November 2022 but delays meant the contract was then due for completion in March. It was then changed to April, but has now been delayed to late this month, due to unforeseen circumstances.

A car crashed into the building in January 2021.

Scaffolding was put in place by Highland Council to stop the building collapsing.

It has been removed over the past few days.

The council arranged for Laing Traditional Masonry Group to start work on site in June last year with an aim to keep any disruption to the local community to a minimum.

A council spokesman said: “At a recent site progress meeting, the contractor LTM Group confirmed works were progressing to 95 per cent completion; with repairs to upper levels complete allowing the scaffolding to be dismantled.

"One owner remains uncontactable, however this is not impacting on progress on site with works now being scheduled for completion by June 23.”
