Links between the member countries of the Commonwealth have been celebrated at a special ceremony at Inverness Town House.

Highland councillors and officials, including Inverness Provost Helen Carmichael and chief executive Donna Manson, were joined by representatives of a range of organisations to join in the annual Commonwealth Day celebrations.

Rev Doug McRoberts, Moderator of Inverness Presbytery, also took part in the ceremony along with representatives from the emergency and Armed forces, youth organisations, schools and former service people.

It was among a range of events across five continents including flag parades, church services poetry mornings and dance performances.

This year’s theme, Delivering a Common Future, aims to highlight how the 54 member countries in the Commonwealth family are "innovating, connecting and transforming" to help achieve some of its biggest goals like protecting natural resources and boosting trade.
