An Inverness man took exception to a comment made to him outside a Fort William pub by a passer-by and assaulted him.

The incident happened outside the Sunny's Sports Bar in Middle Street early on May 11 this year.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 53 year old Darren Woods of Union Street, pushed the man into a wall on hearing the remark.

Woods admitted assault and Sheriff Sara Matheson fined him £320.
