TWO collections which hoped to raise a total of £5000 to help an Inverness football club back to its home ground have passed their goal.

Clachnacuddin FC has been unable to play home fixtures at Grant Street Park following a fire on Christmas Eve.

The supporters’ trust set up an online collection which has raised more than £1460.

This will be topped up by an appeal organised by club stalwart Billy Corbett which has already raised more than £5000.

Mr Corbett said: “I was trying to raise as much as I could – and I am still trying to raise money.” He said the response had been good, adding: “It’s been fantastic and there have been a lot of ex-players donating to the cause.”

Club bosses are hopeful they will be able to play the home fixture at the ground against Formartine United on Wednesday – subject to league approval.
