The Co-op wants to expand its work with local communities.

The Co-op is looking for people to work with good causes and vulnerable people in their area.

The retailer wants to recruit Member Pioneers who will receive full training and the business’s support as they help groups and individuals around Inverness during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

The new position forms part of a drive to recruit 1000 Pioneers across the country.

Existing Pioneers are involved in a wide range of activities including co-ordinating food drives and offering personal support to those unable to leave their homes.

Russell Gill, head of co-operative and local engagement at Co-op, said: “We’re looking for people who have the passion to bring communities together effectively, believe in the power of co-operation, and who hold the wellbeing of their community at the forefront of their mind, to truly make a difference.

“This has never been more important than now.”

He added: "Inverness has so many strengths and we want to help communities be as resilient as possible, against the new challenges posed by Covid-19.

"The new Pioneers should really spearhead our efforts, support great causes and think up new ideas.”
