A new gaming club is planning its latest special event.

A new club for computer games enthusiasts is creating new connections and helping out a good cause at the same time.

Caledonian Clash has been set up by Steven Campbell (24) to bring together gaming lovers in Inverness.

"The idea came about because I was sick of complaining of there being no club, so I decided to take it upon myself and start one!" he said.

"I have always been heavily interested in gaming but have had to travel elsewhere to seek a club or people with similar interests – Inverness isn't somewhere where there a whole lot going on in terms of gaming."

Proceeds raised from a small door fee go to mental health and suicide prevention charity Mikeysline, a cause Steven holds close to his heart, having experienced his own struggles with mental health.

Caledonian Clash meets on Mondays from 7-11pm at the Caledonian Bar in Inverness and newcomers are welcome, including those who have never tried gaming before.

"I understand that its daunting at first getting involved with gaming because you maybe don't feel like you fit in, but I want to make it accessible for all: the young, old, experienced and inexperienced," Steven said.

"A few weeks ago we had a married couple come and give it a go. It was great! They were in their 40s, and were doctors from Wales. It's nice to know that people who want to try a new thing can do so and enjoy it. That's what it's all about – taking part!"

The club's first special event was held at the start of April and saw 35 people attending. Titled No Man's Land it centred on Western-themed fighting games and, to Steven's delight, gamers came from all over Scotland, including one enthusiast who journeyed all the way from Stranraer.

Their next event is Fatal Finale, a "farewell" gaming party, saying "goodbye" to game Street Fighter V and welcoming Street Fighter 6 to the gaming world. Join in at The Club, 5 Gordon Terrace, Inverness on Saturday at noon.
