Climate action strategies at heart of Highland talk with award-winning activist

An award-winning climate influencer is set to bring her climate action strategies to the Highlands.

The Highlands and Islands Climate Hub are collaborating with Scottish Influencer of the Year, Laura Young - also known as Less Waste Laura - for an online talk in which she will share her impactful strategies, coalition-building efforts, and discuss the intersection of environmental and public health advocacy.

Ms Young is an award-winning climate activist, environmental scientist, and ethical influencer.

A Highlands and Islands Climate Hub spokesperson said: “As part of her work to create a greener future, Laura appeared at COP26, and has collaborated with TEDx Talk and appears in media across the globe. She also a wide range of voluntary positions, in the 2050 Climate Group, Scottish Wildlife Truist and Marine Conservation Society. Laura is a leader in the campaign to ban single-use disposable vapes across Scotland and the UK, which has been nominated for a Holyrood Climate Action award.

“In the context of the Hub, Laura will focus on how grassroots activism can lead to meaningful legislative action. There will be an opportunity to ask Laura more about her work, and how to uplevel community action.

“The event is open to both members and non-members of the Hub, anybody with a passion for the climate is encouraged to sign up.”

The talk is happening on Tuesday April 16, at 7pm, and will be hosted online. Booking is open on the Highlands & Islands Climate Hub’s Eventbrite, all the details can be found on their website and social media platforms.
