Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 20-year-old Lauren Glass and her 36-year-old uncle, Alan MacRitchie, wanted to challenge Cameron Dalrymple over an unspecified issue for which they suspected he was responsible.

Depute fiscal Laura Ryan said when the pair knocked on Dalrymple’s door at Brudes Hill, Inverness on April 9 he shouted at them from his first floor window.

“Lauren Glass went to the car and Mr MacRitchie tried to speak to him, but he left the window and came back with a samurai sword, swinging it about and shouting at Mr MacRitchie,” she said. “The police were called.”

Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson said his client accepted he “over-reacted” but added: “He has now moved on to a new relationship.

“He has previous convictions but he has now settled down.”

Sheriff Margaret Neilson fined the 23-year-old Dalrymple £600.”
