Johnny Foxes is tightening up even further on Covid-proofing measures already in place.

An Inverness pub has introduced additional Covid-19 safety measures to reduce the risk of transmission.

In a social media post to customers Johnny Foxes, in Bank Street, said the measures apply from today "in light of the current situation in Aberdeen".

Customers are told: "No more than 6 people per booking FOR FOOD and DRINKS (Limited availability). Please call if you have any queries.

"We are reducing our seating capacity in each area of our venue.

"Limited, managed, queuing area (max 4 groups) – no SOCIAL DISTANCING = NO ENTRY."

And they add: "We encourage you to wear a face mask when visiting our venue at any time when you are not seated at your table.

"Please do not move from your allocated table – get a wee ZOOM meeting organised with your buddies across the bar!

"We appreciate this is not fun but we want to keep our team and our customers safe as we can!"

The measures appear to have been largely welcomed, judging by comments left on the pub's Facebook account.

Linda O Dick said: "Well done Johnny Foxes. We are coming up in five weeks for a weekend. Please, please everyone be sensible. I need a visit to Inverness."

And Sam West said: "When I start going out I will now be going to J Fox's then. I at least know that it's a safe environment."

An original cluster of coronavirus cases in Aberdeen was traced to a city bar there.

On Wednesday lockdown restrictions were reimposed across the city with all pubs and restaurants ordered to close and people told not to travel more than five miles for leisure purposes.

The total number of coronavirus cases associated with the initial outbreak now stands at 79, though the Scottish Government said yesterday it expects that number to climb.
