A POWER cut which affected hundreds of people in Inverness yesterday was traced to a fault in an underground cable in the Millburn area of the city.

At around 6pm last night, the fault caused electric power to be lost to 665 properties.

SSEN said that "on the rare occasions there is a power cut, our priority is to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible".

By re-routing supplies, engineers restored power to all 665 properties by 7.10pm.

A spokesperson from SSEN Distribution said: “We’d like to apologise to our customers who were affected by last night’s power cut and assure them our engineers did all they could to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible.”
