PIPERS used their huff and their puff to blow up a storming success at a prestigious bagpiping event.

Consolidating on their previous achievements, the City of Inverness Pipe Band lifted two trophies at the Edinburgh Pipe Band Championships.

The Highland Capital was awarded the championship’s prestigious Thomas Grotrian Trophy for overall best marching and discipline and the chairman John B. Hughes Cup for second place in Grade 3.

Organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Lothian and Borders Branch – this was City of Inverness Pipe Band’s first time performing at the competition.

Pipe Major Scott Taylor said: “Although the temperature was in the high 20’s our pipers and drummers kept their cool and gave a piping hot performance.

"We are very proud to once again put Inverness firmly on the winning podium of the competitive pipes and drums circuit."
