A CITY medical practice is seeking planning permission for internal alterations to give more consulting space and develop the surgery as a training practice.

Cairn Medical Practice, in Culduthel Road, wants to convert the top floor former caretaker’s flat.

GP partner Dr Andrew Dallas said: “If approved, the planned works will facilitate the creation of two additional consulting rooms on the ground-floor level which are very much needed to support the access needs and meet the demands of our patient population of 9660, and also provide a dedicated consultation room for medical student training.

“An additional, smaller consulting room on the ground floor will be created for the vital work which community link workers and primary care mental health workers will carry out to support the wellbeing of our patients.

“The project will also see the creation of space on the upper level for up to eight clinicians to remote consult – freeing up existing consulting rooms to our clinicians for face-to-face consulting.

“A dedicated training room on the upper level is also planned for our medical students which is a very much needed and exciting prospect for Cairn as a training practice.”

At present, Cairn has 13 consulting rooms.
