A car dealership in Inverness may not reopen due to the economic impact of the Covid-19 lockdown.

It is understood that around 30 staff are affected at the Skoda showroom in Harbour Road.

In a statement Eddie Hawthorne, Arnold Clark's chief executive and group managing director, said: "Like all businesses, Arnold Clark has been impacted by the effects of Covid-19 and we will take time to assess our business and restructure where appropriate.

"I can confirm that we are currently in consultation with our employees at our Skoda dealership in Inverness. However, our goal is, as always, to continue to support as many of our employees as possible by working to redeploy where we can throughout the business.

"Ultimately, our employees are the heart of our business, and they’re the reason we’re able to offer the high standard of customer care that we do.

"We’re working hard to ensure as few employees as possible are affected as a result of this crisis."

Arnold Clark has a number of other dealerships across the city including Hyundai, Renault/Dacia and Mercedes Benz outlets.
