A popular Inverness café has been named as Scotland’s Cyclist Café of the Year.

Velocity Cafe and Bicycle Workshop received the award from Cycling UK with similar accolades for cafés in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Alice Masheter, a Go ByCycle Project Worker from the Crown Avenue business, said: “On December 16 we were awarded Scotland’s Cyclist Cafe of the Year – the only cafe to win the award twice. We were encouraged by the increase in walking and cycling during 2020, and look forward to welcoming customers back to the café.”

A spokesman from awards organiser Cycling UK, said: “Velocity Café and Bicycle Workshop offers healthy food, great coffee, and runs projects promoting health and wellbeing. Not only that, their workshop team has been working tirelessly during lockdown to keep people riding.”
