Nairn Old Parish Church is extending an invitation to all to join them this Sunday.

Rev Alison Mehigan said: “Having received the very sad news of the death of our much loved late sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we as a nation have joined together for a period of national mourning.

“It is fitting that we all pause and reflect on the 70 years Her Majesty so faithfully served and fulfilled her duty as monarch.

“We have all, no doubt, already watched many of the broadcasts and read the full newspaper coverage of her amazing life, and shared in stories of both State occasions as well as more personal recollections.

"We are grieving and it is right too that we should gather to share our grief as well as show our respect for her and the whole Royal Family.

"The whole community of Nairn will have an opportunity to gather for a Memorial Service at Nairn Old Parish Church on Sunday, September 25 at 3pm.”

She added: “It will be a congregation of people of all faiths and of none.

"A meeting of people who want a local opportunity to remember our remarkable Queen Elizabeth who for over 70 years was our constant and led a life that shone with love, hope and steadfast faith.”
