A Nairn community choir has helped two great local causes after raising £1600 from their Christmas concert.

This was the most successful festive fundraiser for the Accidentals, who split the proceeds between Wheels in Nairnshire and Nairn Hydrotherapy Pool.

The cheques where presented to charity representatives at a choir rehearsal on Wednesday.

Choir secretary Cath Stevenson said: "This was the most money raised from our Christmas Concert since the choir started 15 years ago and we are so grateful to the Nairn community for their unfailing generosity."

The choir's next outing will be their coffee morning on February 24 at 10am at the Royal British Legion in Nairn where they will be singing as well as providing all the usual fare.

They also announced their participation in the first-ever Charity Choral Extravaganza – set to take place on Friday, April 26. The event taking place at Nairn Community and Arts Centre will see Nairn and district's finest choirs joining forces for a fantastic evening of singing.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Monday, February 12 and will be priced at £10 – to book and for more information visit www.nairncc.co.uk or call 01667 453476.
