Santa paid a very special visit to Smithton.

And in his sleigh there were plenty of gifts for children in the area.

One of the organisers Lenny Robertson said: "Smithton community Council joined forces with Smithton Residents Association on Saturday December 11 at the Smithton Hotel.

"Santa gave out 150 selection boxes along with £10 Vue cinema vouchers for children aged four and over and children under 4 received a selection box and a £10 Tesco voucher.

"Extra selection boxes were donated to Raigmore children's ward."
She added: "Both teams worked hard to decorate the gazebo at the hotel with a donation of a Xmas tree from Tesco Eastfield.

"Peter and staff were fantastic serving mulled wine /teas/coffees all day along with giving out mince pies kindly donated by Harry Gows and shortbread donated by Smithton Scotmid.

"Children were given the chance to get pictures with Santa for a small donation, the total of the donations for Highland Hospice added up to an amazing £150.53.

"Both groups continue to work hard bringing the Smithton community together."

She added: "Wishing everyone involved a very merry Christmas."+
