A local cheer group won gold over the weekend as they competed for the first time since 2020.

Team Love Cheer (TLC) headed to the British Cheerleading Awards Scottish Sensation event, the first Allstar cheer and dance event in two years due to the pandemic. The three-day competition was held in the SECC in Glasgow, where 100 dancers from TLC, aged between five and 25, took part.

Kerri Love, owner and head coach, said she was extremely proud of the team. She said: “I knew the standard of BCA Scottish Sensation was going to be high but my goodness watching these teams you would never know we had 2 years out, working on zoom, in parks or training wherever we could find a ‘safe’ space to avoid the C word!

"Huge congratulation's to all the coaches the work behind the scenes. The stress that no one sees and the pressure inside that you feel and constant worry about other people’s children was set aside and it was just pure pride and passion on that competition floor!

"The TLC kids blew me away. I wanted clean and personal best performances and wow did you give me that.

"Results against these big teams like we’ve never had before. I truly go to competitions like the underdog. I’m so proud of my red, white and gold army.

"You amaze me every single day - Thank you for sticking with us throughout the tough times!"
