Meals on wheels service run by a Black Isle charity to continue for another year

A £15,000 grant from the Bank of Scotland Foundation has secure the future of the Black Isle Cares meals service.

Now in its fourth year, the service run by Black Isle Cares (BIC) represents a combination of nearly 40 local volunteers and four restaurants – Fortrose Café, Chanterelle Restaurant at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club, Allangrange Hotel in Munlochy, and McGinty’s Fish and Chip Shop – who together provide meals for up to 38 elderly people three times a week.

Brian Devlin, of BIC, said: “It is an important lifeline to the recipients who particularly value local people and restaurants providing this service.

"Along with the delivery of meals, our team of volunteers play an important part in combating social isolation.”
