ORGANISERS of a lochside obstacle race are promising a bigger and better challenge than ever before as an appeal is issued for charity runners to get signed up.

The Beast of Loch Ness is the ultimate 10K obstacle race, including 30 obstacles to climb over, crawl under or otherwise get round.

Taking place on Saturday, September 2 this year’s course includes eight brand new obstacles which competitors will encounter as they pass through forest, undergrowth and lots of mud, as well as the waters of the loch itself.

Entry is open to all but, as the event’s official charity partner, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) has a limited number of free entry places available for anyone happy to pledge to raising £100 minimum in sponsorship to compete as part of the CHSS Beast Runners Team.

CHSS north fundraising manager, Paul Corrigan, said: “Last year’s Beast Race was a fantastic day out.

“It is always a great atmosphere with plenty of laughs, hilarious fancy dress costumes and camaraderie as the brave beast runners take on the obstacles together.

“It certainly doesn’t matter what level of runner you are – it’s all about taking part and enjoying yourself.

“CHSS is immensely grateful to all the valued runners who support the charity by taking part and raising vital sponsorship.

“Every single penny goes directly to helping people across all our communities who are struggling to live with lung disease, heart disease or the effects of a stroke.”

All CHSS team members will get a bespoke Beast Runners T-shirt and other goodies, plus full support to help with fundraising.
