A CHARITY-fundraising concert due to take place in Dingwall on Thursday has been cancelled.

Dingwall Gaelic Choir and other musicians and singers were due to join forces for the concert at Dingwall Academy and share the proceeds with the Haven Appeal, which aims to develop Scotland's first multi-purpose centre for children and young people with severe learning disabilities.

The concert has been cancelled due to worries about holding a large gathering of people while the coronavirus situation continues to unfold.

It is now planned to stage the concert later in the year.

The £4 million Haven Appeal was launched by the Elsie Normington Foundation.

The Haven Centre, which will transform a derelict site once occupied by the Culloden Court Nursing Home in Smithton, Inverness, until it was destroyed by a fire in October 2010, will comprise respite flats, indoor and outdoor play areas, a community-run café and garden and meeting rooms.
