The second day of a 1000-mile fundraising cycle ride to the Highlands had to be halted sooner than expected because of really bad weather.

Alasdair Fraser, from Inverness, is hoping to ride from Gdanske in Poland to The Gellions pub in the Highland capital in aid of the Ukrainian appeal.

Yesterday he set off from Debki but only managed to get as far as Leba – a distance of just 30 miles – because of 40-mile and hour winds which made it impossible to go any further.

He said he was hoping that the weather would improve so that he could get back to covering 80 miles a day over the next few days.
