AN internationally-acclaimed string quartet will travel to Nairn this weekend for an evening concert as part of the Music Nairn series.

The London-based Navarra Quartet will be performing on Saturday, January 14 at the Nairn Community & Arts Centre, bringing the music of Brahms, Dvořák and Szymanowski

Violinists Benjamin Marquise Gilmore and Bartosz Woroch, viola player Sascha Bota and cellist Brian O’Kane have built an international reputation as one of the most dynamic and poetic string quartets of today.

Starting at 7.30pm, the programme includes Brahms String Quartet No. 3 in Bb Major Op. 67 alongside Dvořák’s Cypresses – the composer’s arrangement for string quartet from a song-cycle of love songs he had written as a young man – and Szymanowski’s String Quartet No.1 in C Major, Op.37 written by the Polish composer during the outbreak of the Russian Revolution in 1917.

Advance tickets for the concert are available from Nairn Community & Arts Centre: in person, by phone at 01667 453476, or on www.nairncc.co.uk priced from £15, with student tickets priced at £3.

Tickets will also be available to purchase on the day.
