Haggis, drams, poetry and dancing – these are only a few things that make Burns Night – on January 25 – a great occasion to celebrate Scottish culture.

With an array of events running across the week as a tribute to Scotland's national bard, we have picked a few you may enjoy.

Thursday, January 25

  • Burns Night at the 1645 Inn, Auldearn

If you like a good meal, bagpipes and a special quiz then the 1645 Inn in Auldearn has the right menu for you.

With Haggis Neeps and Tatties as well as classics for the night like cock-a-leekie soup, steak and ale pie and Cranachan, and a good drams selection, this is a great way to address the haggis.

  • Mikeysline Burns Supper, Kingsmills Hotel

To celebrate and raise money for a great cause, Mikeysline is hosting their second ever Burns Supper at the Kingsmills hotel.

Tickets include a 3-course meal, live entertainment, speakers and fundraising activities in what promises to be a fun night for all.

Last year the event raised £18,000 for the mental health charity.

  • Community Burns Supper at Farr Community Hall, Strathnairn

The community hall is welcoming everyone to join in for a night of fun and sharing.

Participants will be welcome from 5.50pm – tickets priced at only £4 (including and ice cream cone for children!).

  • SNP Burns Night Ceilidh, Chieftain Hotel Inverness

Time to dance the night away – the event will see local acts taking on stage and get everyone moving.

Everyone is welcome – although according to the event description "over age 12 advised as there may be much merriment!"

Haggis and Mac 'N ' Cheese will be served on the night. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

  • Contin Community Trust, Burns Night Ceilidh

Pipers and other musicians will take on Contin Village Hall for this popular event.

Starting with a recital of 'Tae a Haggis' before tucking in a delicious supper whilst being serenaded by traditional music group Asta.

Bring your change for the Raffle and £1 throw at the bottle of whisky

  • Scotch Malt Whisky Society Burns Supper & Whisky tasting, The Redcliffe Hotel

If your focus is on drams and flavours, you can't miss a toast with the SMWS' special tasting event on Friday.

Starting at 7pm, the evening will feature six single casks whisky chosen for the occasion.

  • Burns Night at The Bandstand, Nairn

The popular Nairn bar and restaurant will run a special menu across the whole weekend and will host a special party night on Saturday Sir-Reel Clarks ft. Aaron Clark playing live.

Friday, February 2

  • Burns Supper & Ceilidh, North Kessock Village Hall

For those who want a great community night and are still keen to celebrate the event, the event promises to be a great night of Rabbie Burns, food, friendship, music and dancing while raising funds to support Humanitarian Aid for Gaza.

Following on from the Burns Supper the Full Tilt Ceilidh Band will open the dances.
