Residents at an Inverness care home got into party mood to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Ballifeary Care Home was festooned with bunting and balloons yesterday as staff, residents, family and friends joined in the occasion.

During the morning, residents watched the events in London, including the Trooping of the Colour, on TV before enjoying a picnic.

In the run-up to the Jubilee, activities coordinator Anna Maclean gathered residents’ memories about the coronation.

Assistant matron Lorna Davies said there was a celebratory atmosphere especially given the last two years of the pandemic.

“I think the Jubilee is a celebration of age,” she said.

“The Queen is a good role model in showing age is not a barrier to enjoying life and continuing to be vibrant.”
