Mackays of Dingwall report increased turnover

Turnover and pre-tax profit increased for a Highland car dealership last year.

Mackays of Dingwall – which is now a holding company – operates Vauxhall franchise dealerships covering Inverness, Ross-shire, Sutherland and Caithness.

A strategic report accompanying the firm’s latest accounts for the year ended December 31, 2021 stated: “The directors continue to assess the changing market, including the advancement of hybrid and electric vehicle technology, to ensure that it is well placed to cope with changing customer demand.

“The group has ceased trading from their site in Dingwall in 2022 and will focus all efforts through its site in Inverness, Mackays of Dingwall Limited will continue as a holding company for the group.

“The directors are confident that 2022 will be a successful year and are anticipating increased sales levels and margins. New stock supply continues to prove challenging, however the company is carrying a significant order bank that the directors are confident will be fulfilled in the coming year.”

Turnover increased from £16,102,695 in 2020 to £17,818,837 in 2021. For the same period, pre-tax profit rose from £269,605 to £392,123.

The average number of employees dipped from 58 in 2020 to 47 in 2021, while staff costs dropped from £1,657,525 to £1,531,893.
