A 43-year-old man who said he has turned his back on crime and drugs will be sentenced at Inverness Sheriff Court later this month.

Leslie Goodall, formerly of Strathmore Place, Thurso but now back in Inverness, appeared before Sheriff Ian Cruickshank to admit possessing a scalpel and a knife in a lane between Culduthel Road and Mackay Road on August 9 last year.

The court heard he told police: "Can't go into Hilton without being tooled up."

However defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell said: "After a rocky start, a drug treatment order is going exceptionally well."

Goodall has another case pending for sentence on March 21 and Sheriff Cruickshank deferred this case for both to be dealt with on that date.
