Education, health and social care will be the top priorities for a candidate standing for the Independence for Scotland Party (ISP) in the upcoming Inverness West by-election.

Iain Forsyth has a background in accountancy and finance and has put his name forward for the party set up last year.

Party leader Colette Walker has given him her full backing.

“ISP has been going now for over a year and our members are working hard with passion and dedication for not only Scottish independence but a fairer, accessible country for all those that live here,” she said.

“It is vitally important that we have people with true life experience on a variety of lifestyle issues to make decisions that will make a positive impact on people’s lives.

“I am proud that Iain is standing in the Inverness West by election.”

She added: “Iain cares about the area he lives in and will work hard representing his constituents. He will fight for better council services, especially in education, health and social care.”

Mr Forsyth said: “I and my family live in this ward and I will work to ensure that Highland Council delivers the best services for all the people of Inverness West.”

He plans to push for more action from the council in providing facilities to meet the demands of a growing population as well as campaigning for legal protection for the wider Culloden battlefield site from private developments.
