Cancer stopped mum competing in Strictly Inverness – now I'm doing it for her
One of the Strictly Inverness dancers is keen to make her mum proud after she missed an opportunity to be involved in the annual charity event due to cancer.
Beth Saunders has dedicated her involvement in the contest to her mum Karen.

The 22-year-old, from Cradlehall, is among the 32 rookie dancers who are training for the area's answer to the hit BBC show when it is staged in May, while also fundraising for organisers and hosts Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.
"It’s always something I’ve felt passionate about doing as it’s for such an amazing cause," Beth said.
"My mum applied in 2016 and got through to the interview stage, however she got diagnosed with cervical cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the time of Strictly so in a way I feel I am doing it for my her and I want to make her very proud."
Partnered with Darryl Geegan, from Inverness, they are learning a Bachata and a street style number, as well as a team dance with seven other couples who are performing on the Thursday evening of the contest.
The administrator for Capstone Construction is hosting a darts, pool or dominoes competition this Saturday at the Blacksmiths in Inverness, and has more fundraising events coming up including a ceilidh at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on March 22 and a golf competition at Fortrose Golf Club on April 12.
She previously raised more than £1000 for the hospice when she did an abseil at the Kessock Bridge with her sister Lucy.
