More than 140 donors called on each week in Inverness to help maintain blood stocks for hospital emergencies and surgery, as ScotBlood commits to third regular donor day in the city

Inverness Donor Centre will be now be open on Fridays in addition to the usual Monday and Thursday sessions, from August 20.

Staff need to welcome approximately 140 - 160 donors through it's doors every week to help maintain hospital blood stocks.

Regular opening times will now be: Monday: 2:30pm-5pm and 6pm-7:30pm, Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm and 6pm-7:30pm and on Friday: 9am-11:30am and 12.40pm-2:20pm.

A ScotBlood spokeswoman said: "We hope that the increased range of opening times which now covers mornings, afternoons and evenings, will give our donors more flexibility for future appointments.

"It is hoped that the increased range of opening times will give donors more flexibility for future appointments.

"Since the start of 2021, over 4000 donations have been collected at Inverness Donor Centre. seven per cent of these donations have been from donors giving blood for the first time. "We’d like to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

"If you never given blood before, or we’ve not seen you in a while, we’d be delighted to give you a warm welcome."
