A ROAMING Black Isle repair cafe will set up shop in Cromarty on Saturday as part of an initiative encouraging people to be more sustainable – while saving themselves money.
The initiative, staffed by volunteers, gives people the chance to get help fixing everything from a dodgy lamp or flex to a hem that has started to fray or a favourite jumper with a hole in it.
It challenges people to think about what they can repair instead of having to buy new and will also offer knife sharpening and help with repairing bicycles.
The Transition Black Isle initiative has visited a number of communities and on Saturday (March 25) will be at Victoria Hall in Cromarty from 1pm-4pm.
The team said: "All welcome, even if you don't have a repair. Coffees, teas and cake. Try us. A stitch in time saves nine – we will do our best to help you and also show you how we do it so you grow in confidence yourself!
"Come along and see what a repair café is all about – talk to our volunteers, have coffee and cake in our cafe."
Donations will be welcome.
Volunteers this month are offering:
Sewing repairs
General and bike repairs
Electrical repairs & PAT testing
Computer & digital clinic
Tool sharpening
All repairers are volunteers and visitorw are asked to bring any spare parts if they know what is needed. They are encouraged towatch, learn and ask questions.
The Black Isle Repair Café is a collaboration between Transition Black Isle, the Highland Community Waste Partnership and Black Isle Men's Shed.
