Councillors will make a decision on the wind farm application on Tuesday.

CAMPAIGNERS battling controversial plans for a wind farm which will have Scotland’s tallest turbines will lobby councillors when they make an inspection visit to the site between Kiltarlity and Drumnadrochit tomorrow.

Councillors will travel to Blairmore Forest, the location for the proposed 23-turbine Druim Ba wind farm, on Tuesday ahead of making their decision.

During their visit, campaigners plan to fly a tethered blimp nearby to demonstrate the height of the 490ft high turbines.

The application has attracted a total of 758 representations — 428 are in support, 330 against.

After viewing the site, the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey planning applications committee will return to the council’s headquarters in Inverness to determine the application by developer Druim Ba Sustainable Energy.

Planning officers are recommending the committee opposes it due to the adverse visual impact on the area — although the ultimate decision lies with Scottish ministers.

Four community councils — Kiltarlity, Inverness West, Glenurquhart and Kilmorack — have objected to the proposed development although Beauly Community Council supports the proposal.

Read more about the meeting on The Inverness Courier's internet site tomorrow and in our Friday edition.
