Call to all foodies in the north as Taste of Nairn kicks off today

THE THIRD edition of a popular food festival in the Highlands is starting today, with events for all tastes throughout the weekend.

Returning to the seaside town, Taste of Nairn will welcome lovers of flavours with activities of all sorts, stalls and competitions.

The festival programme kicks off tonight (Friday, April 28) with A Taste of Community, a showcase of local groups, clubs and events (from 6pm to 8pm at the Nairn Community & Arts Centre), foraging along the River Nairn with Nature 4 Heath (6.30pm), and special events at The Havelock, The Classroom and at The Bandstand. Other activities include a visit at Nairn museum and stand up paddle board taster sessions by Paddle Bliss Nairn.

The heart of the party over Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 will be the community & arts centre, with a bustling food & drink market running both days from 10am to 4pm. The Wellness Hub, run by Highland Yoga collective, will also be running a series of free sessions over the weekend.

On the day there will also be the World Tattie Scone Championships and The Bandstand will be hosting A Senegal Experience in Nairn, with special menus and live music throughout the day.

On Sunday, festival revellers will e able to enjoy marshmallow toasting at Nairn Community & Arts Centre during market hours as well as the Showstopper Cake Making Contest, which this year is royal-themed in honour of the coming coronation.
