As their heroes get ready to make waves at Hampden, up to 700 Caley Thistle supporters will be partying on the waters of the Clyde.

A group of ICT fans has organised a huge pre-match get-together for the club’s army of travelling supporters on the morning and afternoon of the Saturday, June 3 match.

For a £4 ticket, families and supporters will be able to join in the fun at The Renfrew Ferry venue on the river at Anderston Quay.

The Inverness folk/ceilidh band Schiehallion will be performing, along with a disco, face painter and other surprise attractions for all ages.

Three bars will be open exclusively for the Highland contingent arriving in hope of their team creating what would be arguably Scottish football’s greatest ever shock victory against Ange Postecoglou’s treble-chasing league champions.

Up to 700 tickets are available, with organisers confident they will sell out.

Doors open at 11 am and, for an extra £4, there will be buses to ship supporters to Hampden at 4.30 pm to make sure they arrive in good time for kick-off.

One of the organisers, Stevie Reilly, of The Wyness Shuffle podcast, said there was a determination to ensure Inverness fans and those arriving from other parts of the country and abroad could gather together safely, in a family-friendly environment to enjoy the historic day to the full.

Mr Reilly stressed: “It’s by the fans, for the fans.

“We’re looking to turn a corner of Glasgow into a wee bit of the Highlands for the afternoon.

“This has been organised independently by fans, but ICT supporters trust board member Laura Grant has done a great deal of work on this, while Don Lawson of Johnny Foxes played his part in fixing up the venue.

“It is a very safe and family orientated venue which is very used to big crowds, such as the Tartan Army for Scotland games.

“For those not familiar with The Renfrew Ferry, it is not actually a ferry! It is a static, fixed premises and a really great space for occasions like these.

“Initially we were offered £10 a ticket, but we managed to knock them down to £4 a head.

“We’re hoping to see 10,000 Caley Thistle fans coming along to the final to cheer on Billy Dodds’ team, so if we can get even a modest percentage of those along for the party it will be a terrific atmosphere.”
