Bye bye to Inverness Banksy

A Banksy-style image spotted beside the River Ness is no more.

As the Courier reported last week there were ripples of excitement and much online speculation when what appeared to be a painting in the style of well-known (though highly secretive) artist Banksy appeared under the Friars Bridge in Inverness.

It quickly became apparent, though, that the image was attached to the bridge like a sticker rather than having been painted on.

The image came from a well known Old Inverness black and white photograph.

As a sticker it's time was probably always limited in its riverside location and, sure enough, come Saturday it was hanging on by a thread...

The image was nothing more than a bit of material on a stick come Saturday.

...and by today had completely vanished.

Come today there was no sign that it had ever been there.

Maybe one day the real Banksy will venture north?
