THE team behind an independent interior design shop in Inverness have taken on social media to announce they will be permanently closing its doors later this month.

Ashleigh Gibson and Irene Massey, who run Lucy Wagtail Interiors on Canal Road, published in a post of their Facebook page that the shop will close for the final time on August 19.

In the statement the team said they needed to wind back the business for a time and re-evaluating their services going forward.

It read: "We have had to take a close look at how we present our products and services to our customers and have made the decision that going back online for the most part with more of a hands-on local service would be the best option for our business in these difficult economic times.

"It has been a fantastic two years in the shop, it’s been great meeting loads of our lovely customers and chatting about what their dream interiors look like. We’d like to thank all our customers, particularly our shop visitors both local and visiting, who have come in to support us.

"Thank you so much to our local working partners, we will continue to work with them whatever way we can going forward.

"We will be sad to leave the shop and the lovely working environment at the Canalside as well as our lovely fellow business neighbours over here. Please remember to shop local where possible and support as many local independent businesses as you can, every small sale helps."

Ms Gibson's said her original fabric and wallpaper designs will soon be available to order through their website, as well as an outlet site for the purchase of our sale items.

Earlier this week, independent business owners at Am Bothan and Blend Tea and Coffee Merchants have also announced they will be selling the businesses.
