An electric bus charging hub can be built in Inverness after Highland Council granted planning permission for a site within port authority land.

Inverness Harbour Trust, in Harbour Road, submitted the plan for 2877 square metres of industrial land accessed via Shore Street.

Permission has been granted subject to a number of conditions.

The applicant must begin the development within three years and provide specific information to the planning authority.

According to a supporting statement the Port of Inverness intends to install fencing, a gate and pedestrian barriers to help secure the site.

The report states: “These works would be carried out prior to the proposal coming into operation. The existing gate on Shore Street shall remain open during operational hours, unless it is required to be closed in the event of a tidal surge. These arrangements shall result in no vehicles having to queue on the public road.”
