Water supplies have been interrupted in Nairn.
Water supplies have been interrupted in Nairn.

A burst water main in Nairn has led to some residents waking up to no water supply in parts of the town this morning.

Some businesses have also been impacted and schools are aware of the situation.

Scottish Water is arranging for repairs to the burst water main near Howford Road, which was reported at around 3.40am.

A spokesman for the water authority said: "Customers in Nairn have reported an interruption to their water supply.

"We have located a burst water main near Howford Road and are currently making arrangements to carry out a repair.

"Please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure until a repair is complete. You may also experience discoloured water."

Millbank Primary has delayed opening, stating: "As you will be aware there is currently no water in Nairn. As a result, we will be delaying the start to the day until 10am. There is going to be an update at 9am so we’ll know more then."

Nairn Academy has made a similar decision, stating: "We will delay opening until morning break at 11. 30am today to allow us to assess the update from Scottish Water regarding water supplies for toilets, drinking and catering. We will update as soon as we can."

It is unclear how Rosebank Primary is responding at this stage.
