A burst water main is affecting Inverness city centre this morning.

The Eastgate Shopping Centre branch of Starbucks was prevented from opening due to the emergency but as yet it is unknown how many businesses and other properties are affected.

One regular customer of the international coffee chain spotted this notice announcing the temporary closure.

A branch spokesman said the situation was currently on going and they were waiting for updates from centre management.

A Scottish Water spokeswoman confirmed they were currently investigating a loss of supply to the IV2 postcode area of the city.

The water company's website has announced that Inverness customers have reported an interruption to their water supply.

Their statement read: "We are currently on the way to investigate the issue and are aiming to be on site as soon as possible.

"While we investigate, please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure. You may also experience discoloured water.
