Burnt out car linked to spate of vehicle break-ins

A SPATE of car break-ins in Inverness culminated in one being dumped and set alight near Alness, police believe.

Officers are investigating after at least eight separate vehicles were targeted in in the city on Friday night.

Around 10pm several cars were targeted in Bishops Park, Kessock Court and Royal Ness Court were broken into, culminating in one being stolen and later found destroyed near Alness.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended to a car on fire near the Corkscrew road around 3am on Saturday. No-one was injured.

Police added that the Church of Latter Day Saints in Ness Walk had also been targeted.

No items were reported stolen from the church or the vehicles.

"As part of ongoing enquiries, we are appealing to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area to make contact via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111," said a police spokeswoman.

"Police advise anyone who suspects their vehicle has been damaged or entered without permission to make contact via 101."
