Burned Nairn man was deliberately set alight, police believe

POLICE have confirmed that a man found with serious burns in Nairn was set alight deliberately.

The 34-year-old man is recovering in a specialist burns unit atSt John's Hospital in Livingston following the incident on Tuesday night.

"At around 10.44pm we received a report of a 34 year-old man having received burns to his lower body," said a police spokesman. "The man was admitted to Raigmore Hospital before being transferred to a burns unit in Livingston, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

"Police Scotland can confirm that the matter is being treated as deliberate and a positive line of enquiry is ongoing at this time."

"High visibility patrols are being carried out in the area to provide reassurance to members of the public."
