A group of Inverness Royal Academy pupils are set to represent the Highlands and Moray in the national finals of the Young Enterprise Scotland programme.

The budding entrepreneurs set up Sustain and won the regional prize with their range of eco boxes filled with kitchen and bathroom products to encourage people to live more sustainable lives.

Usually the Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) Highlands and Moray finals take place in the Ironworks in March, bringing together teams from across the area to present their products and company results to a team of judges. This year the participating teams submitted an online company report.

Linda Thomas, chairwoman of YES Highland and Moray, said: “Sustain were a unanimous choice for winner with an excellent product based on great market research and a professional and effective approach to running their business.

“We were extremely disappointed not to be able to hold our finals this year and to enjoy seeing the tremendous progress all our teams have made throughout the year. But resilience and the ability to adapt to adversity are key skills we instil in all the young people that take part in Young Enterprise and we were delighted that they all submitted impressive final reports despite the unsettling circumstances.”

Sustain will take part in the Scottish national final which is being held online on Tuesday. As part of the competition, the public can vote for their favourite team by visiting http://bit.ly/FoYE20Vote

Last year the Highland and Moray regional winners from Fortrose Academy went on to win the Scottish national final and took part in the UK finals in London.
