Brown bin permits for 2021/22 year expire today.

HIGHLAND householders with brown bins for garden waste are being reminded that permits for the 2021/22 year expire today (Wednesday).

Highland Council posted: "Make sure your new 2022/23 permit is clearly visible for our collection crews from tomorrow."

The garden waste collection service runs from September 1 to August 31 each year with a winter break in December, January and February.

It is not a statutory service and is therefore not included in council tax.

You will need a permit to receive garden waste collections. The cost for 2022 to 2023 is £47.75.

Up to three garden waste permits can be purchased per household

You can apply at other times throughout the year, although the £47.75 charge still applies regardless.

There are no concessions or reduced rates, Highland Council says.

The local authority is currently facing industrial action from waste and recycling service workers.
